I notice that all convicts in Shankton State Pen seem free to go for a stroll in the yard. Not me. As soon as I step out, I get sniped.

That is pretty weird, especially as there is a payphone there that I can't reach (not that I ever use payphones, but I still assume they are meant for the inmates).

So, is that a bug, or is that a design choice ? Is it supposed to make sense ?

Edit :

AAAAAAND it prevents me to do my "metalshop" job, as the tower guards shoot me down on my obligatory way to work.

So, yes, a bug. Major one.

Telika: snip
There's at least 2 entrances to the yard, does this happen at both of them? Also, what is your police 'heat' percent when this is happening, does it change at all when you enter the yard?

Bothof them, and yes the 'heat' increases.

Have you installed the game via the installer or through Galaxy? Because Galaxy still installs only v 1.0 while the installer is at v 1.085. Also, try starting a new game in another slot and seeing if you still have the problem.

Edit: I just tried it on v 1.085 and I have the exact same issue.

I'm playing v1.085, and yes, the problem is not dependant on the save slot used.

As I don't have and don't want to make a "steam profile", and the game's official forums seem to be the steam boards, I sent an email to the escapist support adress directly. We'll see if they'll ever answer.

But i'm surprised it hasn't been brought up anywhere else. I didn't even find a youtube walkthrough where the player either walks freely in the yard or gets shot attempting that, so I don't know how widespread the bug is.

I just tried this again in v 1.0 and you can enter the yard just fine, so I think the bug was introduced in some recent patch. For me, the problem with v 1.0 Shankton is that it's very laggy so playing through it that way is hardly any kind of solution.

I got an answer from team17. They apparently weren't aware of that bug, it does not happen at their place, and they are looking into it now.

Alright, I should send them a message about it too.

In my answer to their answer, I have actually linked them to this thread (I also told them that you checked v1.0 and didn't find the bug there).

Also, if you write to them, they might want to know these 4 things, which they asked me :

- Which time of the "day" (in-game) the bug has happened.
- Whether you were carrying/wearing contraband.
- Whether contraband detectors went off.
- Whether any guard nearby did say anything.

I'd be surprised if your answers were different from mine, but still, better give in advance as much info that they consider potentially relevant.

Alright, will do, thanks for the info!
PROBLEM IS SOLVED !

The bug, which had been confirmed as a breaking game bug by gog support, is now FIXED by the latest Escapist version (2.2.0.3).

No problem anymore !
