I was watching a dev stream and it was mentioned that an update is coming soon (I could be wrong, but it sounded to me like it would be within a week). This was specifically for Steam, though, from what I could gather. Is there an estimate on when we will get an update on GOG, and once that happens, will we have to start a new tavern or will the update apply to old saves? I realize that the unstable version is only available on Steam, but this sounded ilke an actual real update to the game itself. If it is only an update to the unstable version then I interpretted it wrong and I am very sad that I can't play it.

On a side note, I really love GOG and want to support it but with this game I am regretting not getting it on Steam as it seems they have the dev's priority. I hope that changes in the future. We GOG users are not second-class citizens, damn it!

Hey there @shepherdmoon, thanks for taking the time to reaching out to us!

At this time, we can't say exactly when this new update will happen, as we are constantly improving features and working on hotfixes.

Steam is not a priority over GOG - stable releases are within 20 minutes of each other on the two platforms. :)

As far as Unstable Branch goes, we mostly have not done it because we use Unstable branch as a volatile testbed for upcoming patches. Moving forward, we will explore creating an unstable branch on GOG! However, it has a history of obliterating save files, and corrupting game data, so backing up your saves is highly recommended, before testing these beta versions.

That said, with these updates in their testing phases right now, a new, fully stable patch is coming! Thank you again, and take care!

Hey, @shepherdmoon! Ask and ye shall receive - the unstable branch is available to players on GOG :) Please note: Playing the unstable branch is a testing branch, and used to test alongside the community. With that being said, bugs could potentially ruin a tavern save, so proceed with caution! You can access this by clicking on Epic Tavern in your library, then clicking "More" next to "Play", then in the dropdown menu, click "Settings". On the right-hand side, toggle the Beta Channels to "On". From there, select the channel dropdown and click on "Add Private Channels". This will prompt for a password. You do not need a password, just leave the box blank, and click "Submit". Then a new option will appear in the channel dropdown menu called "Public Test Tavern - Unstable". Once that is selected, the game will then update to the unstable build of the game. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Wow, that is awesome, thank you! Can't wait to try it out. If I copy my current savefile somewhere else, will I be able to replace it later to play the stable version with it? Where are the savefiles located?

Yes, you will be able to replace your save files - that is actually the recommended way of working around potential bugs corrupting saves when playing on Unstable!

You can find your save files here -
(PC > C: > Local Disk > Users > [Your ID] > AppData (make sure the hidden items are checked as being viewed in the ""View"" menu in the taskbar) > LocalLow > Hyperkinetic Studios > Epic Tavern)

Be sure to zip up the whole Epic Tavern folder and separate from when you play on Unstable. :)

Awesome, thank you! I tried out the unstable build just now, and it surely does have a lot of bugs, but ignoring that it is already much improved over the current stable version. And I know there are still much bigger improvements in store for the future. I'm very excited for it!

Thanks again for being so responsive to your fans! I don't think I've ever seen anything like this from other developers. It's refreshing and makes me want you to provide more ways for me to give you money :)

Although I prefer to buy my games drm free from gog I fully understand your thoughts about steam... it seems that the developers answered a few questions here in the forum when the game was released on gog but now they just don't care anymore :-(...
March 16th, they put another unstable release on Steam. so 1189.

We are STILL on 1177 as far as I can see.

So yeah, I far prefer to buy my games through GOG, for a lot of reasons - but this one, if you're planning on buying it and haven't yet... be aware, this platform is getting no love from the devs anymore.

... and more than half a month later: we still only have 1177 in our games library :-(...

@gog.com - please either upate the game, or just delete it from your store and refund the money to us!

That's on the developers, though, not on GOG.
Looks like we are on version 1193 after a recent update, so something is happening on GOG. The patch notes on GOG aren't even close (still at 1171) so if you want to see what happened you probably have to look at the Steam forums (or Discord if it isn't there).... so there you go. This isn't only an issue with this particular game--many suffer from the same lack of developer support on this platform. Some worse than others. It's really too bad.
