Any suggestions for similar games to this series? I've got both of them, but they're unplayable on both my computers (tried all the tricks I've read on here), so unless I get my old Windows 98 computer up running again, I'm not going to be able to try these.

I really like the sound of them though. Are there good modern helicopter games that have a similar dynamic campaign setup? Maybe not too modern, here's my laptop spec:

Intel SU7300 1.3GHz dual core
Nvidia G105M
4Gb RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Thanks,
Richard

Okay, gave up on the first game, but I managed to get EECH to start up (wouldn't load before, don't know what change worked) and it runs pretty much perfectly. Installed the mod, and that seems great too, although the cockpit view is a bit weird at 1366x768, and I can't work out the joystick settings screen.

Anyway, don't worry I probably won't need another helicopter sim for a while...

btw I disabled administrator access in the compatibility tab, which was set on by default, and the game still seems to run fine. Does anyone know why this is needed?

Thanks,
Richard

With EECH you have to program your stick with third party software. The game only lets you assign axis.

Ka50 bBlack shark is a very in-depth sim but requires a good PC, something with an i7 or better I guess.

Other than EECH 2, I don't know of any other heli sims. They have been modded into some games but that's not my area.
There have been a few Heli sims, from the venerable Gunship 2000, to Apache Longbow (which I think also connected with another game about the Hind), Longbow2, Team Apache (I see a trend here...), and an arcade-like game about the Comanche. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of all of them, there's another one with the Havoc, I'm sure...

Thanks, I had Comanche 3, but I could never get it to run acceptably (no luck with heli sims, I guess)

I'm getting going with EECH, although it's a pain that it sometimes crashes if I alt-tab out and back in, since I'm referring to the manual a lot. Another problem is that I have no number pad. I haven't got enough into it yet to know if this is a big problem. If it is, then I'll need to plug a usb keyboard in to play the game.

The last one I was trying to remember was KA-52 Team Alligator.

EDIT: I can now confirm that Ka-52 Team Alligator, Jane's Longbow, and Di's Apache Longbow and Hind all work just fine on Win7x64 under default DOSbox settings on my laptop. If Longbow works, I have little doubt that Longbow 2 will, although I'm not absolutely certain it's a DOS game. If you can stand the outdated pixellated graphics, I'd go for Di's Longbow Apache & Hind.

A quick google came up with the following fairly comprehensive list:

http://www.listal.com/list/mop-up-move-out

They aren't all super realistic, some are quite old and they mostly don't have dynamic campaigns. There are a number of rough gems in there however. I remember playing hind and LHX a long time ago and having a lot of fun.

You can always give the helicopters in ARMA 2 a spin. Not the most realistic, but it allows you to have a role in a full battlefield. The Eagle Wing misison in one of the later patches is fantastic, lets you fly an Apache until some very bad things happen :)
I do realise I am answering a post more than a year old ;)
