All of the reviews on the store page are from a year ago. And they were a bit pessimistic back then. Did the game get better?

Well, what should I tell you :D
Starting with the Early Access in April 2020, we added a major update each month until the full release (except February 2021). With each major update, we introduced new mechanics and overhauled the existing ones (research, expeditions, livestock, mines, raiders, ...). And we also polished the game with each update, added QoL-stuff, fixed bugs etc.
If you're unsure, you can still buy the game, try it out and if you don't like it, you can ask GOG for a refund. :)
