I purchased this a few months from GoG and have yet to be able to play it. Everytime I go to launch it presents a runtime error.

For weeks now I've been doing everything the support page has suggested. I've tried

Doesn't work for me either. Do you also get a "unhandled win32 exception" error? you can check after you click 'debug' from the crash window

No, when I launch empires I get a pop-up saying "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error", "the application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way".

I've installed the direct X from june 2010 and the other web thing as suggested by the trouble shoot. Doesn't do anything. I've followed all the fixes people posted here in the forums as well. I even tried sending a message to GoG, but haven't had a response for a few months now. I want to buy more games on GoG, but I'm not going to if I can't get the first game I bought to even work.
