Another post for those who're using laptops that have "switchable graphics."

People have mentioned flickering graphics before and that it could be fixed by changing "Direct3D" to "Direct3D Hardware TnL" or vice versa. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me.

If it doesn't for you either, try launching the game using the integrated GPU.

This solved the problem for me.

i have the same problem on an Aspire 5750g with INTEL HD & a GT 540m. The problem though is that the game runs terrible on the Integrated graphics. Changing to the GT 540m gives me the flickering issue. I guess this is one game in my library i won't be able to play
How do you I launch the game using the integrated GPU? Do I need to install software, change the compatibility settings or what? Sorry, there's a lot of technical stuff about computers I still don't know of.
Sorry. I just realized that I could do that by right clicking the icon and select run using graphics processor, so feel free to disregard my previous comment. Sorry about that.
After some experimenting, I finally got the game working again. All I needed to do was download a display driver fully optimized for my laptop and then run the game using high performance GPU rather than integrated.
