The game runs fine on my Win7 laptop, but whenever I launch a nuke or hit stuff with bombers, the... bomb effects simply do not work. There's no flash or anything, just invisible death to those who get hit by units.

What is the problem here?

actually, I can't see any kind of explosions *at all* - its hard to tell where I've been hit when the enemy attacks.

There are no explosions at all. Missiles hit something, they just disappear!
