Hello,
I just purchased EE a few days ago. It starts up fine, but its glitchy and unplayable. I am using Windows 8.1 and have tried all the suggested fixes on the EE forum(such as changing compatibility and resolution settings). I have an Asus laptop that is only a few months old. Please help me, I love this game and would be very upset if I purchased it and wasn't able to play it. Thanks, I hope you can help.

You're graphics drivers are probably to new to play the game effectively. Download an older version of the drivers, e.g. 9.17, the game should work perfectly after you do this and it isn't to hard to do.

Wait, that seems familiar...
I heard that NeoEE solves this problem.
NeoEE is the place where you can play Empire Earth 1 and its expansion "The Art of Conquest" together with hundreds of other players for free.

Join our community and enjoy Empire Earth on the original lobby servers that once have been shut down by Sierra/Activision. Just install the patch and get right into the game!

I also have windows 8.1 and a new computer bought a few wks ago. I am not very computer savvy, but, if you would be able to share the step by step way you fixed the problems that you were having, I would really appreciate it. Bought the game for my son for Christmas...and today, he wasn't able to play :(

See post #3. It's a copy of joel.page's solution that he posted in two other threads, but not his own. Hence the comment about it being familiar.
Hello,

I have the same problem, but the solution used to solve the issue cannot be used in my case :
I am using an Asus T100 with the new Intel Atom processor (Z3740).

This game was working on my old Celeron M (with Intel graphics), so I think this Atom processor is enough efficient.

I tried different tips :
- Launch with different parameters (Win XP SP2/3 Win 7)
- root rights
- low resolution (640*480)

Always the same result :
The game "screen launcher" appears then Windows give me a error message "This piece of software stopped suddenly..."

Have you any idea for me ?
Thanks in advance.

How?
Hi, I was one of the people having the horrible graphic glitches in the game. Previously I tried all solutions hinted in all the threads here with no avail, and I just happened to fix it by accident when looking for something else. I just updated my Intel HD drivers with:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=VGA&os=30

curiously, if I searched the vendor page (Asus) for my specific laptop model (N750JK), it offered me an older version of the driver, but the generic driver is up to date and works great. So far I have tried both EE and AoC, just by right-clicking the shortcut icon and selecting my integrated Intel HD video chip (my laptop has 2 video cards) instead of the NVidia chip which was selected by default; both work flawlessly!

Notice that if you have a custom graphic driver provided by your laptop vendor (as it is the case with my Asus laptop), you won't be able to update it by installing the standard Microsoft driver; you'll need an updated driver provided by your vendor.

I hope that helps.
