I have an Asus Windows 8 laptop and EE continues to freeze. I have tried all the recommended fixes. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? I love this game.

Well, If you are facing any problem in Windows 8 just delete those 2 files from the game directory (DX7HRDisplay.dll) & (DX7HRTnLDisplay.dll) and it will take the settings of your system's directx..Good Luck

In my case it says "EmpireEarth.exe has stopped working" even before the intro screen launches. No fix there,

Same here I get the EE splash screen and then the stopped working window and it closes

Since the OP didn't bother responding, I tried this.
I deleted those two files, and now the game crashes on launch.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I just downloaded the game tonight. I'm using Windows 8 and having problems. For the first game it will load and let me play a little bit and then it will just freeze but the sound continues. The expansion game loaded 1 time for 1 min and froze and every time i try to load now it just gets stuck on the screen saying game loaded. I cant even switch tabs or CTL/ALT/DEL, I have to reset my computer with the power button. I tried changing compatibility settings but nothing is working. Any other ideas?

exactly the same here ee has stopped working!! before intro scenes did not work at all
