Right after starting Empire Earth, the floating splash screen appears. The screen then turns black and hangs. Something similar happens in Art of Conquest, but after the screen turning black the application automatically exits and throws an error.

I'm confused as to what might be causing the issue, anybody have any advice? I'm currently running Windows Vista.
