Hi all,

I've been having a problem with EE:Gold Edition where it loads up the cutscenes without a problem but it doesn't display the main menu. When I ctrl+shift+esc, the mouse doesn't move and the music continues to play.

A little research tells me that ATI cards had this issue where the AA settings were conflicting but I've tried setting my graphics card to "Application controlled" (see attached image) but to no avail.

I've also tried the usual stuff of reinstalling, updating drivers, running in admin mode and various different compatibility modes but no luck.

Anyone having a similar problem or know of a solution?

My laptop specs are:
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Intel i7 2720QM 2.2ghz
Nvidia 2000M 2gig + Intel Mobile thingy
8gig DDR3 1333mhz RAM.
Max screen resolution: 1600x900.

I'm in the same boat.

I was going to post up a thread about my problem, then read yours and realised my problem's identical. Same failed attempts to fix it, same graphics card, same failure to find any answers that don't involve ATI AA settings. Your screenshot is identical to what mine showed too.

Aside from being really grateful you guys gave this away for free, I'd really like a fix so I can play Empire Earth. I know how good it is and this suffering is unbearable!

Same problem, except I'm using an ATI card and changing the Catalyst Control Center's AA settings to "use application settings" does not fix it. Intro movies work fine, but the main menu does not show up at all, although I can hear the music.

The expansion pack simply crashes as I try to start it.

Fortunately these games were free!
