Game keeps hanging on the menus, if I get luck and get to the campaign page and click 'resume campaign', I can hear the city sounds, but the screen is still the menu. Sometimes it hangs on the choose your emperor screen, but clicking proceed twice gets the same city sounds.
It all worked fine last night with a few attempts due to menu sticking, but now it just refuses to load.
I tried widescreen patch, then a clean install, but nothing worked.
I'm using Windows 7.
When I try to load via shortcut rather than .exe I get slightly better luck, but end up stuck on a hybrid of city and menu as attached.
Edit: Running it in 640x480 from compatibility mode with monitor in Hi-Colour mode made it work.
