I've been trying to fix this issue all morning and I'm hoping someone else has an answer for it.

None of my buildings will animate to show that they're functioning! There's no workers showing at them, as though they are cut off or missing something, even when fully supplied.

I've tried running in different compatibility modes, reinstalling, making sure Discord doesn't have an overlay enabled and even trying to run it in 16bit restricted colour mode. I tried restarting my computer as well but still, nothing seems to be helping. The buildings won't animate, both with and without the widescreen patch.

I'm on Windows 10. I read that if you 'disable visual themes' it helped but there's no option for that in 10?? Is anyone else having this problem??

SOLVED!! :

Updating my graphics driver from an apparently buggy version fixed my issue! If you're having this trouble, try that too!

This is a bug that plagues all of the city builders. The only fix that is proven to reliably work is to just restart your PC. It's probably some sort of "corrupted cache" glitch, which is solved by a restart. It can happen in C3, Pharaoh and even Zeus (though for the latter, I've never seen it).

EDIT: I note you've already tried this. If this doesn't work, then all I can recommend is maybe reinstalling the game (but making sure you use GOG Downloader and NOT Galaxy, in case Galaxy does something awkward with the game).

EDIT2: If this is not the case, are you sure the buildings actually have workers? Feel free to upload a save game file demonstrating this and the community may be able to help :)

When you have tried compatibility modes (including various Windows versions) have you remembered to change the compatibility settings for the widescreen patche's exe, not just the original exe that gets replaced or a shortcut that you are possibly not using?

I tried all the things listed and none of them worked HOWEVER!! I did find a solution!

I run an nVidia GForce 740 graphics card and when I complained about this to my husband he mentioned that there was some sort of issue with the 378.53 driver. He'd seen it mentioned on a different city builder game. He suggested I try getting the 378.57 driver and try that.

Lo and behold, it worked!! Upgrading to 378.57 has fixed the building animations! They're all working as they should be again. I even tested with the widescreen fix and it's still running just fine!

Hopefully this will help someone else because I was almost to the point of downgrading back to WIndows 7 just to get my Impressions games back. They were ALL doing this and now they're fine again! =Db
Yeah, see, I tried both methods and it didn't work at all. The only buildings I've seen so far that has no animation and therefore no production are the Bronzeware makers.

I went and got the 378.37 driver AND reinstalled the game without GOG Galaxy and it didn't work. Even fully staffed, they wouldn't do a thing to make the wares I so desperately need to make money.

And I don't want to downgrade to Windows 7.

Are you sure the Bronzeware makers have clay and bronze to make the wares and also make sure they have workers and are not turned off from industry settings or something like that. The animations not playing should not have any effect on the production unless I'm mistaken.

my buildings stopped being animated as well on 2/11/2017. They still seem to be doing work, I just can't see them doing the work.
I'm playing off the disk still, and had been running great with Windows 10 since sometime last spring.
AVG had popped up, saying that it did not like something from nvidia and was moving it to the virus vault. I did not have an option of telling it that nvidia is not a virus. I did go back later and pull it out of the vault, but my buildings are still not animated. :( I am updating drivers, and will then re-boot.

EDIT: yep! downloading the latest driver from nvidia fixed the issue for me too.
