Hello all,
I'm starting to learn the game using the 1.51 Enhanced version and have started a game as House Hazat vs all AI controlled factions.

I've started sending units out to explore my home planet Aragon and just to the East I seem to be being attacked by rebels that have Vau units.
They've got a Vau fighter and 2 Vau guard units.

Is there any explanation for this in terms of lore?

From reading the manual I thought the Vau stayed well clear of human worlds in general.

EDIT: update, also just explored some nearby ruins and found symbiots!
Seems like a tough start to the game to be encountering Vau and Symbiots right next to my cities on my capital planet.

Yea I usually don't bother going into those ruins and whatnot until I have a better army, just go around and take cities in the beginning.
There are renegade Vau in the tabletop game, as well as Vau seeking their own approach to the prophecies that drive their race. "War in the Heavens: Hegemony" talks about Soldier caste Vau who have rebelled against their mandarins, as well as clutches (birth families) that evidence insanity. There is also the option that renegade members of the Dau'kedalir or Tla'lr Voama councils are conducting their own operations in the Known Worlds. This is less common during the Pax Alexius, but was more common during the Emperor Wars.

Also remember that the Vau Hegemony is made up of many races, some of which maybe active in these ruins, but we only had enough art for the base race :)
Thank you both for the replies.

I see, good to know there's a reason for this :)
