A couple of questions have arisen on the new 1.5 version of the game between me and my friends, and I was wondering if any of the gurus here could shed some light on any of the following:
My first question is in regards to modding the Unit.dat file. Now, the comments in the file nicely explain the nature of the data in the file, my question is one on limits.
Specifically, are we still limited to a total of 92 different units in the listing (0 - 91)?
Secondly, within a unit class, how many different variations are we allowed per listing? For example #83 Infantry Lgn, how many sub units can be created using variations of the Infantry Legion?
My second question is in regards to the *.GAL files, the overall galaxy scenarios you choose at set up. Clearly Galaxy.gal is the default galaxy set up, and LostWorlds.gal is a much expanded galaxy map that includes many of the other star systems that are present in the EFS universe, an excellent addition I might add.
But could you explain the significance of the GalaxyV1.5.gal file? What's different here, should we be using that file over the standard Galaxy.gal file, and if so why?
And lastly, what is the story behind the DARKAGES.GAL set up? It appears to be a sort of EFS lite version of the standard game, less worlds leading to a quicker game, but is there anything more to it than that guess of mine?
Thanks in advance for any replies to this, and apologies if this is discussed somewhere and I just missed it. And finally, many thanks again for all the work done to repair and expand on this gem of a game.
