I'll keep it short.
As from what I've seen I'm expecting Gothic'ish RPG with guns(with couple of improvments).
Will I get it?
You'll definitely feel the 'Gothic' roots in terms of mechanics and gameplay.

Gunplay is so-so, especially in the earlier hours. Expect to use a melee weapon quite frequently, as the guns have limited ammo and are not all that useful once something gets into melee range.

The difficulty level is absolutely gruelling at the start, you'll be running away from nearly everything that moves in the first hours (there's been a few difficulty options since the last patch, haven't tried those yet). The key is to do the quests for those sweet XP and better equipment, not attempting to grind the critters (which net little XP and not much sellable loot without the proper skills).

The world is decently done as far as visuals and exploration goes. Don't expect high-end graphics, though - the whole thing, while charming, is rather rustic.

The NPC are...well...politely said, the world of Elex is full of assholes, and all factions have plenty of skeletons in their respective closets. There's few truly sympathetic characters, and a lot of quests don't have a "correct" way of solving them - you basically can be nice and fail the objective, or behave like an ass in order to get stuff done, or try to weasel out a reasonable compromise just to realize it'll piss off all of the involved parties.
I'd say it's almost on the level of the witcher games in that regard, you get to pick between the lesser of two evils most of the time. And where Geralt has friends and allies, you're pretty much on your own here. Even your companions have skeletons in their closets, some quite literally.

Except C.R.O.N.Y. U4. But then, he's your devout litte drone buddy.

The moral system in game...actually isn't one. It's about acting emotional or not, and can force in-game decisions that you'll probably not like. Again, roll with the punches here - there's not "good" or "bad" here, just a balance act between acting like a cold calculating sociopath or a hormone-driven raging psychopath.

Would I recommend the game? Hm. It's interesting, long, has quite a few options for fiddling with your character, 3 main faction paths to go down for added replayability and an interesting world. If you can put up with being a total punching bag for the first 10 or so hours, go for it.

If you're expecting something highly polished along the ways of a Bioware game (well, at least when their games were actually highly polished), you'll probably end up disappointed.

I'll just add that, yes, you'll get it. I really like the Gothic games and PB games in general, and I had a blast with this one.
I'd highly recommend buying it -- on steam. The last patch was released a week ago by the devs and gog has it, but hasn't released it yet because of some issues with the CHINESE language, which apparently wasn't a problem for Steam, as people who bought Elex there have had the latest patch for a week now. Of course, if you are not concerned about getting patches to correct bugs, then I guess you can buy it on gog.

I know this post is a weak old, but seriously what kind of troll are you?
The patch came out for gog.com perfectly fine if you are using gog.galaxy (and there is no reason not to).
But of course if you want to use old fashioned installers then yes, there was a problem with the chinese language pack.
And this was over christmas.
The fact that you must be somebody that does not use gog galaxy and instead useses the manual installers is ok.
But that you then complain and tell people to buy it on Steam blows my mind, the stupidity is unreal.
Why not just use gog galaxy then?

I am someone who knows the difference between simple words such as "weak" and "week." I'm not too sure about "useses," sounds like maybe someone from Homer's Odysseus. Check the attached photo, that is currently what I see ( January 3rd), and it shows the gog galaxy game installers only offer the old patch; I don't think I should be required to download the entire game again to get the new patch, and you can see only the old patch is shown.

As for trolls, I suppose someone from Germany knows more about them than I, you seem to have personal experience there. I paid the full price for the game and expect to be able to have the latest patches as soon as they are released by the devs (as is the case on steam, where they either could fix the Chinese language problem or ignore it for all of those users who aren't Chinese).

Maybe you prefer us talking in German then?
Or Polish, so the staff of gog.com can understand us better?

The patch has long been implemented in gog galaxy, as you can see in the picture i've attached.
If you installed without gog.galaxy then it of course sucks that they are having this issue. But it's not their fault that this issue came up, and i am sure you took some days off over christmas, so please don't act so entitled.
Especially when their is a workaround (reinstalling or using gog galaxy in the first place)
There is no other company that offers you games like this DRM free and without the need for a third party program (steam, gog galaxy, etc.)
But there is a reason why those programs are offered, they make things easier.
It was your choice not to use them.

PS: Have you imported your game folder into gog galaxy and did that work?

Of course I am entitled. I didn't get this game for free, I paid full price, therefore I AM entitled to get the patches in a timely manner without having to install gog galaxy or anything else, just as those who purchased the game on steam were entitled to get the patch as soon as it was released, and did in fact receive it then, as they were entitled to.
You are contradicting your own logic, saying "There is no other company that offers you games like this DRM free and without the need for a third party program (steam, gog galaxy" yet you've been telling me I should use gog galaxy to get the patch! I agree, I should get the game (and timely patches) "without the need for a third party program . . . gog galaxy." My point exactly!
No it's not your point, you keep talking about Steam.
If you are using gog galaxy you get the patches perfectly fine, in exactly the same time as Steam.
Only if you are using the oldschool downloaders there is a problem, and nobody else can offer this service in a better way, because gog is the only one.
And almost nobody is using this anymore, you are getting way more than on Steam.

Don't buy it yet, if you have a polaris based GPU in your system (RX4x0/5x0).
The weather-effects seem to crash the game now and than and if it happens, it always crashes the game (except locations where it isn't raining or snowing)

I have no problems here with Radeon RX480 and Crimson ReLive 17.1.1
