Hello,

I've got a problem with the game it won't start.

I click play and I got a black screen and then a gray and at the end the game is down.

I don't think that's a CPU issue cuz the game gave me Ultra settings at the beginning. I used to play Skyrim on this CPU before and works fine, but now I can't even lauch the game.

Maybe sb have a solution for this problem?

Where to start to look for probs/solution ?
Your system is up-to-date ?
Updates/drivers for windows / Graphic / Motherboard are at least from this year ?
Did you try to start the game with a lower graphic setting ?
And it would be helpfull, to give some information.

Speccy i a nice tool, to get some system information, IF the problem is system-related.
Hello,
I have a similar problem: game dont start for me neither.
When I try to lauch the game I have an error: "The Application was Unable to Start Correctly (0xc000007b)"
I try to uninstal/reinstall, run as administrator, reload .NET,... Nothing work.
I'm on windows 10 Pro 21H1, CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX3090

Any suggestion?

The problem is your graphics card, not your cpu. If you look in my screenshot, Skyrim SE requires at least a GTX 470, and you are using a 240. Your CPU is fine, since it meets spec.

EDIT: Also you don't have enough RAM. Minimum spec is 8gb, you are using 4gb.

Could it be, that your graphicboard doesn't support the directx version needed by Skyrim - special edition ?

>>The GeForce GT 240 was an entry-level graphics card by NVIDIA, launched on November 17th, 2009. Built on the 40 nm process, and based on the GT215 graphics processor, in its GT215-450-A2 variant, the card supports DirectX 11.1. Even though it supports DirectX 11, the feature level is only 10_1, which can be problematic with many DirectX 11 & DirectX 12 titles.<<

Just found this at techpowerup.com related to your gtx240. I think, this could be your problem.
I guess I need to pimp my PC and I think we can close the subject. Thanks for the help guy.

Too little information for remote diagnosis. Hardware-related information is important, but don't forget the software side, starting with the operating system. Other points of consideration:
- Which Skyrim (Anniversary or Special)?
- Do you get the black screen when you launch Skyrim, or when you try to start or load a game?
- Is it a Galaxy or a direct download installation? If there is a problem with one installation, it might be worth trying the other. And it should always at least be tested what happens when the game exe is started directly, not via Galaxy or the launcher.
- Always confirm that you have no mods installed and active. Mods can be a reason for all kinds of problems.
- Is it a first-time installation? Were you ever able to launch Skyrim successfully? This installation or a previous one? Try un- and re-installing (or verifying files).
- Did you see any error messages?
- Think of other information which could help other people to understand your problem.

It might also help to search the internet for "skyrim launch problem" (or similar). There is plenty of information available.

Did you close all other applications? Skyrim+Mod Manager+SKSE takes up a lot of memory.

Is that for a plain vanilla Skyrim? Do you have a DRM install of Skyrim on the computer as well or did previously? Also how much free physical memory do you have before launching?

Most players who come here are also looking for help, so it's basically a loop.

0xc000007b sounds like a generic api error (Skyrim 64 bit requires DirectX 11.0) - both Windows 10 and RTX 2060 support it, which is weird.
DX11 is included in W10 by default, I don't think it's possible to download it separately, so maybe your Windows 10 installation could be corrupted? Can you run any game that requires DirectX 11.0? (like Fallout 4)

Skyrim 64bit also requires Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2015 x64 or newer, it is not included in standard Windows 10 and needs to be downloaded separately.
Take a look at your installed programs, do you have anything like that installed?
"Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64)"

If you don't have it, download and install:
