I don't suppose anyone could help me figure out why I can't get SKYUI to work with the gog version of skyrim? I've made sure that I have the correct version of SKSE, and I've been using Vortex to download everything

olnorton: Yes, they have to make a GOG version and a Steam version.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Oh my!!!... then that is extremely horrible news, is it not?
It's not horrible. It just means you gotta wait until it's updated. There are Steam vs GOG vs org script extenders for Morrowind, and Oblivion, and Fallout 3. Just download the correct script extender for silverlock.

The real issue that is every time Bethesda touches the game, the script extender needs to be updated. The good news is that it looks like Bethesda hasn't touched the game since AE release. Maybe, like Morrowind and Oblivion, they have finally decided that it's "done". Dunno.

But basically, go get the GOG version of SKSE and you're fine. Won't solve the issue of other mods that have their own binary executables, but for many mods that depend on SKSE you should be fine.

Look in appdata\local\vortex. If you see a folder named "Skyrim Special Edition" and another named "Skyrim Special Edition GOG", copy the plugin and loadorder files from the former to the latter.

seems like this would have been sorted before release, but whatever -- hope it works for you

edit--
oops,sorry..appdata\local, not appdata\local\vortex\

SkyUI_5.2 works with GOG Skyrim.
I had a problem with SKSE in newest version. Had to install it manually by copying files to directory wuth installed game. I couldn't install it with Vortex. But after that I installed SkyUI with Vortex and it run properly.
I discoeverd that some mods can be installed in SE compatible version. Sometimes you have to avoid AE version of mod and install older SE version, than it works. For me it is difficult to understand becasue my modding knowledge is very poor.
Mods do not work at all for me on the Anniversary Edition; they simply do not work at all. I have tried with MO, Vortex, and installing files directly; absolutely nothing works. If I had known this beforehand I would have never bothered buying such a worthless version of the game. Only SKSE and binary for ENB work.
