Does the auto update still an huge update mods here, or do we now and an opportunity for blocking that bs.

Found my answer, basically the client can stop updates and revert versions. As in GOG client .

Why not install the non-client download version?
That way you can be absolutely sure there will never be an (unwanted) update.
