Hello goggers,

i own the original cd version of oblivion and the shivering isles and think about getting it here again....i just have one question about a gamebreaking bug that the cd edition had back then:

when the shivering isles add on was installed, a problem occured that every item you did drop on the ground did raise its id-number depending on your framerate, for example at a frame rate of 60fps the id number went up by 60 every second till it went through all the possible numbers and the item did dissapear when that happened.

that was something you had to patch out manually, so my question is: does this problem still appear in the gog version? (i dont think so but wanna make sure before important items i drop at home dissapear again XD)

p.s. is there a german version patch outside of the nexus mods page?

The bug is apparently a combination of two factors:
1. Some Shivering Isles NPCs use up FromIDs (of which there are a finite number) rapidly.
2. The game didn't garbage collect the FormIDs that were used.

As a result, eventually the game runs out of them, which is what causes the issue. The GOG version is the latest official patch, which fixes problem #2, allowing all those garbage FormIDs to be re-used, fixing the issue. Problem #1 is fixed by unofficial patches, but with garbage collection working properly, it's not a critical issue.

The issue, I'm pretty sure, isn't language dependent, so I would expect an unofficial patch that fixes the issue to work on any language version of the game, provided the fix doesn't touch dialog. (Of course, you never know with software, particularly given that the game comes from a company known fir their bugs.)
thx alot for the answer...as long as the dropped items dont disapear, i m fine XD...

with the german patch i meant a translator patch because gog only offers the english version...i know the german version is terrible but it got a nostalgy bonus for me......
