Hi all,

I just reinstalled Oblivion as it wouldn't run with the install from moving from one HDD to another. I'm running Windows 10 with a Intel i7-7700k and a 1080Ti with 32GB of ram. I deleted all of the folders related to Oblivion on my system. I get to the launcher and it won't launch. I get a black screen with a small box in the top right like it's going to launch but nothing. I've got no mods and just base game.

I've tried running in windowed and full screen and nothing.

If anyone can give me advice on how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure you uninstalled it correctly. I think you should uninstall it again with the proper utility and then reinstall it.
Anyway you should try running it as administrator and/or using the compatibility mode.

It was the cloud backup saves screwing it, redownloading the whole Oblivion folder into My Games

Just for anyone who might come across this in the future, make sure to:
1) Turn off cloud saves in GOG
2) Delete the entire folder of Oblivion in your "My Games>Oblivion" folder. This is different than the GOG>Games>Oblivion folder.
3) Press play, and play!

I did not test to see if I could save my old saves somewhere else and then save them in the new Oblivion file that's created on launch, nor have I turned back on cloud back up. Might be worth testing if someone wants to - I was just happy to get to play again!

You can! Just copy the old SAVES folder to the new My Games\Oblivion folder (and be aware that you may have to resolve conflicts with savegames which are already present in the new SAVES folder, if old and new savegames have the same name). Moreover, if your old and your new Oblivion installation are configured differently (for example by installing different mods), then old saves may not load properly (or not at all).
