During Character Creation you can choose character's specialization: Combat, magic or Stealth. Does specialization increase those starting skills, thus decreasing your maximum possible Level? Or it only increases the rate of skill point gains?

In other words, in order to reach max possible level, should I select Magic/Stealth specialization if my character is mostly Combat oriented?

Specialization grants +5 to all skills in that category.

Not that you should worry about max level, once you get past 30 you're practically a god anyway.

Thanks, so it means I need to choose opposite specialization :)

I always worry about maximizing stats, that's me :)

You should either take a long look at http://uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Level or do some experimentation with a disposable character first if you want to truly maximize everything.

Yeah, I have already been on that site :) Quite a comprehensive Wiki. I already made character plan, will start game a bit later today.
