One of the most annoying aspects in RPGs for myself is having a map that tells you exactly where you are, and exactly where to go. With TES 3-5, I waited for the modding community to release something that gets rid of that ability before I played. I missed out with Morrowind back when it came out, but now I'm having a blast thanks to the Code Patch giving me the ability to completely minimize the minimap :)

Usually I just the guide books to give me the overall view of certain areas of the game (not sure if these books are from one of the mods I installed), and I have a chalk mod to mark on walls and floors when I'm inside dungeons. Does anyone know of any other mods for navigating without the automap, such as a compass or a spell that points out which way north is?
There's the teenytiny square at the bottom right built-in. For an actual compass mod, only ever seen one -> here. There was a newer version, which seems to have vanished. Haven't personally tested it. It's a buyable item. Drop it, it will point north. Suppose you could also rely on the sun.

Thanks! Activated the mod to check it out, and the compass seems to work pretty well (I turned off the mini-square map). Though at a price of 1000 gp it is a bit costly, and it's only placed at one store. I have yet to really explore that area, and still being low-level with only a few gold pieces to my name, I'll have to wait to actually pick it up during my playthrough.
