Hello everyone!

I have a problem with my gog version of morrowind goty (no mods, only FPSoptimizer)
The journal shows me all quests as "open" (german version).
I have tried the english version (gog download). The english version works fine and shows me only the active quests as "open". The completed quests are "closed".

Is there any possibility to fix this "bug" in the german version?

Please help me...

Hey lalelilolu,

did you contact the support? I don't know what causes your problem and can't check if I can reproduce the issue at the moment and I think the chances are relatively low that there are many German-speaking users visiting this game-specific forum regularly who have enough technical knowledge to help you resolve the problem. Googling your problem and asking on other forums is a great idea.

If you don't find a solution, you may want to try out the OpenMW engine. Since you aren't using any mods and seem to like the improvements of the FPS optimizer, the OpenMW engine may be the right thing for you and it doesn't even rely on hacks. However, OpenMW, isn't a perfect replacement, yet. So, it is probably better to fix the problem in your vanilla game.
But hey, trying it out never hurt anybody and it may be exactly what you are looking for.

Another advantage of simply trying out the OpenMW engine would be that it enables you to narrow down the cause of the problem, because if it still persists there's something wrong with the game data.
I have looked in other forums. It seems that many german players have this problem. But I couldn't find a solution yet.
I also have tried official and inofficial patches, installing the english version and replace the text files with the german text files (the english version works finde....so i thought this could work...but no).
I think the problem is the tribunal expansion (german version).
Morrowind + Bloodmoon works fine with the journal. The completed quests are marked as "closed"...so everthing is fine.
So I think it is the Tribunal expansion.

I have the same problem and after tring different patches, I found this one: Tibunal Journal Fix 1.1 (http://www.4players.de/4players.php/download_start/Downloads/Download/4719.html). The readme is a bit confusing. I copied it in the data files folder and it worked.
However, it gives an error message at every start of the game but you can simply say to load it anyway. I just took a short look into the journal. I don't know if any problems will occur with that.
Maybe someone knows how to get rid of the error message (I read something with the TES construction set in another forum but did not understand it)?!
I'm having the same problem: It works fine with Bloodmoon activated, but not with Tribunal activated. I'm playing the GotY from GOG completely vanilla, so definitely not a problem with Mods.

I contacted the GOG support, but they refuse to have a look at it, because I'm playing the game on Linux, which is not a supported platform. I have my doubts that this is a platform or even system specific problem, but since I'm on Linux, I can't prove it.

Anyone here playing this game on Windows, who is having the same problem and is willing to contact the support to get an official response to this issue? As far as I can see, there is no known clean solution to this issue.

Hey guys, I found a fix for the German Goty Version from GOG: http://www.pcgames.de/The-Elder-Scrolls-3-Tribunal-Morrowind-Expansion-Pack-Spiel-37431/Downloads/TES-3-Tribunal-dt-Journal-Patch-Umbra-Patch-157501/

You get an error, while start but it works fine.
