Hi, I've been having some trouble where every time I start Morrowind I get the play, data file, options, etc screen, but after I select play but the game just crashes in a black screen. I tried installing the Code Patch mod, but so far no luck (I'm on windows 7). Any help is appreciated.

Please be more specific - what does "crashes in a black screen" mean? You click "Play", then the screen goes black (immediately or after a delay? really black, or is the a small rectangular box in the top left corner of the monitor visible? Is there sound when you see the black screen?) - and what happens then? Crash to desktop? Do you cancel MW using the task manager? ...
Are there any other mods installed? If yes, uninstall or at least disable all of them and try again.
You might try to run MW in compatibility mode (XP SP3 or Vista).

So, what happens is that the whole screen goes really black and everytime I'd wait nothing happened till I clsed it. I have to use the task manager to do so and every time it said that it was not working. No more mods are installed. I also tried the compatibility mode but no luck so far. Other things I tried: changing the files to C:/Morrowind, changing window and fullscreen, changing resolutions. I'm gonna try unninstalling and reinstalling it now to see if that works.
Reinstalling the game seems to have done the trick, it appears there was some error during intalation or something like it, but it's fine now, sorry to hae bothered anyone and thanks for the help.
Hello,

I have seemingly the same issue, however no possibility for reinstall at the moment.
With Windows 7 x64 I start the launcher, which doesn't open but aero is disabled due to compatibility reasons.
When I try opening the original game lauchers, I get to open the game, but I see black screen, music playing in the background and I cannot open task manager, minimize or otherwise return to desktop, leaving me with only one option, hibernate my laptop and turn back on, upon I receive a message that Morrowing crashed, but the desktop doesn't change back to its original state, have to completely relog windows.
Tried compatibility/administrator settings with the same result.
Note to add, I tried launching the game first with Game booster.. didn't launch as described above, but same issues are without as well.
