Hello there.
Hope you're all doing fine.

Im creating this thread just as a confirmation that GOG version can, effectively, run many mods well.

Using Mod Organizer 2 with SKSE v2.2.3 GOG and updated GOG plugin from MO2 Nexus' page.

Here's what Im currently running with no problems (until now):

Mod list and Load Order:
(Not all installed mods show here, because some are just text, ini, config files or frameworks that other mods are based upon, and Mod Organizer 2 only shows '.esm', '.esl' and '.esp' files.)

THIS LIST IS NOT UPDATED, AS MANY OF THESE MODS HAVE RECEIVED UPDATES ON NEXUS MODS, AND THEREFORE, THEY MAY OR MAY NOT BE COMPATIBLE ANYMORE.

The main concern has always been .DLL mods, other than that, Steam and GOG versions are pretty much the same.

Any .DLL updated to Steam 1.6.640 with CLib NG/Address Library should work in GOG 1.6.659 as well.
So far, I think PapyrusUtil (4.4 / 26.Sep.2022) is the only that didn't work.

.DLL mods that don't use Clib NG/Address Library will need a separate version made specifically for GOG, just like "To Your Face" author did a few days ago and "RaceMenu GOG" which is currently in testing.

.Keys: Mods that require other mods that have outdated .dlls for GOG version won't work. They install and read files through MO2, but SKSE can't read their .dlls, therefore MO2 will give a warning outdated .dlls.
In such specific cases, these specific mods won't work.

Notice: This is not a list of "working mods", these are just the mods that I'm currently using and testing. I have no pretension of creating a "Full list of GOGrim working mods" as I have no time to maintain such a list. Thus this list serves the only purpose of showing that it is possible to use many mods with GOG version well. You just need patience and some tinkering with the load order. Good load orders and experimentation solves most problems.
Thanks for posting this. I was beginning to wonder if it was my lack of experience or the program I got from GoG in early October. I've only been able to add a few Mods that work, and they are ones not requiring other Mods. Your list is a good reference, and while I add a few of those I will be learning more of how this 'modding' all works.
Do you know of a Modders tool to examine Mod contents to see the coding getting used? One that you would recommend to start with. It's been twenty five years since I've done anything like this, but I might be able to learn enough to be helpful.

Gonzo.1973: ...
Hello Gonzo, glad it helped! I will update the list and try to stay faithful to my load order that actually make all those mods work together.

About tools to check mod code:
No, Im sorry. I have no idea of any tools that might do that I think...
Many mods are open source though, so you can search them at Nexus and Github.

There are some tools used to mod many Bethesda games, but Im not using them right now, albeit I've used them in the past for a while.

- LOOT - Load Order Optimisation Tool:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1918

I'd say it's the easiest one. It helps dealing with conflicts using an online data base and automatically sort your mods in a recommended load order. It's not 100%, but it helps.

- SSEEdit:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/164
"SSEEdit is the Skyrim: Special Edition version of xEdit. xEdit is an advanced graphical module viewer/editor and conflict detector."

I've never used xEdit, nor SSEEdit, but many people use them to solve conflits and create patches for conflicting mods.

- Wyre Bash:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6837
"Wrye Bash is a powerful mod management utility for games based on Bethesda's Creation Engine"

I'd say it's the most advanced of them all. Unfortunally, I have no idea if it works well with GOG version.

These are some of them that are really useful for dealing with conflicts, load orders and advanced toos to patch mods yourself. :)

That version of Wrye Bash doesn't fully support the GOG version.
But version 311, currently in pre- release does. (See attached Pic)
I don't use as many mods as .Keys, and Wrye Bash is all I use as a mod manager.
It might be a bit more of a learning curve, but it does a lot more.

SSEEdit is needed for cleaning mods, cutting down on duplicates and good for comparing the difference between mods that edit the same files.
The current version needs extra command line switches to work with the GOG version.
Edit the shortcut and after the ...SSEEdit.exe" leave a space and add -D:"E:\Games\Skyrim Anniversary Edition\Data" -I:"C:\Users\UserName\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\Skyrim.ini" -P:"C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\plugins.txt"

Of course you would change E:\Games to where ever you installed the game.
And change UserName to your actual user name.

Loot just works once you tell it where the game is installed.
It will also high-lite which mods need cleaning with SSEEdit.

So you're using Precision, but not Nemesis Unlimited Behavior Engine for the "not technically required, highly recommended" patch?

Have you tried True Directional Movement, which, like Precision, requires NUBE for a feature, but isn't "technically required"?

Have you also tried FISS?

Have you also tried FISS?
FISSES and Fuz ro Doh got an unofficial update by noxsidereum:

(update to my first post):
PapyrusUtil has been officially updated for GOG;
JContainers SE also got an unofficial port (see comments on the mod page).

Hello Zeta, yes.
I'm using Precision without problems. Trails work, hitbox lenght configuration work, and so on. I just never tried the debug options of Precision, but everything else seems to work fine without Nemesis.

No, I never tried Directional Movement. I tried to use "Conditional Idles" that require "Dynamic Animation Replacer", but their .dll's aren't updated to GOG version yet, unfortunately, so it doesn't work - yet. I heard DAR dev is working in an update already though.

xEdit works well when adding the new paths in the shortcut. and LOOT has been updated to work with the GOG version.

When creating a bashed patch, have you run into a compiling error as well?

It happens to me even when i'm only selecting the default esm files.

If you could share my screenshot on their Discord server (I don't have access to it), it could help them to find a solution.

EDIT: Actually nevermind! I've downloaded an updated pre release version and it's been fixed :)
