This Post is about The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Deluxe Edition

Sorry if the subject description was confusing, I was under the impression that this forum was for just Oblivion. Anyway here's the issue:

When I Startup the game on GOG Galaxy I'm given the usuall prompt from Oblivion to fill out my graphics, game files, Bethesda support or to exit the client. After filling out my options and starting up the game it seems normal at first, screen goes dark, hearing the music, and the Bethesda Logo appears. But when the Bethesda logo starts to fully appear, the game will either jump back to desktop or the screen will freeze and then jump back to desktop. I've tried to validate the files and uninstall and then reinstall the game, but that didn'st seem to work either.

I've even checked the Oblivion Directory myself too see if a readme or something could give me a hint as to why this is happening. One of the files called "Binkw32" which is a dll. file that has a list of a few errors, along with a message saying," This application cannot run using the active version of the Microsoft .NET Runtime
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
". I know that it's recommended to redownload the Microsoft DirectX 2010 Runtime, in case it's corrupted and may need to be replaced, but even after downloading it the problem still the same.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, I only mentioned the error message in case that could give some insight, regardless I hope someone can offer solutions. Thanks!

(I had an image of a dll. file from the Oblivion Directory that shows an error report, I guess the format of the image wasn't the right kind. But if someone can tell me how to get around that I'll see if I can add an image later)

Please bear in mind that not all readers of your post are telepaths. It's nice that you mentioned the name of the game at least in brackets at the end of your post (assuming that you really talk about Oblivion).
"Crashes upon startup" can mean probably a thousand or more different things. Please describe precisely what you do and what you see when you launch the game (and how you launch it, launcher or exe directly - if you haven't tried the latter it might be worth giving it a try now). Depending on your last action before the crash, it would also be useful to know which add-on's / mods / patches are installed and activated.
One common reason for crashes is a prior incomplete de-installation, which left garbage in the registry. If you know how to do it, it might be worth uninstalling the game, looking for Oblivion-related entries in the registry, deleting them and re-installing Oblivion (if you are not familiar with editing your registry, it would probably be better not to follow this advice - there is a risk to screw up your PC). And when re-installing Oblivion make sure that no add-on's, patches, mods are activated (except possibly Shivering Isles, which is fairly safe in this respect) before you are sure that the game doesn't crash anymore.

I'll edit the post to make myself clearer right away

Sorry I wasn't aware that this forum was for the entire Elder Scrolls Franchise, I thought that it was for just Oblivion. This is my first post on GOG so sorry for that inconvenience.

Also yes I'm sorry I didn't elaborate on the crash upon startup, I assuming I can't change the topic subject in the edit options? If that's the case I'll just explain on what the exact problem is when I edit the post above. Also no I have no mods installed, just the default packages that come with the game. As for the registry solution you mentioned, no I'm not sure about that, best to leave that be I guess.

This rings a bell. I never had this problem myself, and I'm not sure that I remember correctly, but there may be a codec issue. If you want to find out more, you could search the internet for "morrowind codec". There are a few entries which may contain oder lead to further information.
I'm afraid I can't contribute anything else.

Had the exact same problem. Fixed it by turning off GOG's cloud-saves function and then deleting everything in c:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ folder, including my old saves.
AHAH!

I got it to work as far as I can tell. I just had to make a custom folder for the game and then download it there. I got past the Bethesda Logo this time and got to the menu, and the game actually works now.

I also turned off my GOG Galaxy Cloud Saves as a percaution, so maybe that also had something to do with it.

Thanks anyway!

Just wanna ask, if sync cloud saves off. Then if for example, we accidentally delete Oblivion game. Will our saves be deleted too?
