I just bought the game on GOG and installed with the Code patch and The patch project 1.6.6
and the first quest I try fails; Fargoth's hiding place
not good; doesn't bode well

Have tried re-starting and no luck
Fargoth does not go to his hiding place

Has anyone encountered this bug?

Any advice on this?

It leaves me wondering, what else is bugged?

I tried the quest with the vanilla Gog version
no patches; no mods - not even the official plug-ins
and Fargoth does not go to his hiding place

I don't trust the GoG version now
and would not invest any time playing it
I guess I will apply for a refund

How are you trying to do the quest?

What journal updates do you have?

I get the journal entry to go to the lighthouse etc
which I do and wait
but he does not go to the hiding place
so I cannot complete the very first quest
!!

Are you waiting by the fire on top of the lighthouse?

Basically this.

You need to go to the top of the lighthouse, then Fargoth should do his routine around midnight, revealing the location.

In any case, it's not a vital quest or anything and the reward for doing it is minescule in the grand scheme of things. There's no penality for picking it up an not bothering with it, the guy you're helping doesn't have any further quests, nor does completing it help you getting in with anyone.

not an issue with any of my MWs (gog version included) you did get the quest then wait for nightime, Correct? I typically wait at the upper door in the lighthouse.

So I have tested this a few times
I was too far from the lighthouse fire
I stood out on the top of the stairs
Once I move in towards the fire Fargoth activates

So all ok
