Why there are two versions of Manual / Player's Guide? One with filename "Manual.pdf" seems to be shortened version of the one with filename "Player Guide.pdf".
I was common during the time games where sold in a real box together with real books, maps and other gimmicks.
Edit:(and most the time had no tutorial or ingame help)
Often you had one Quickstart-manual, containing the basic infos neded to start NOW..and a real manual..sometimes even combined with some kind of story or lorebook.

Same with arena, the manual is for quickstart and the guide gives you the full info+

I know few people still play this but I noiced one detail description on the UESP.com about Arena Races: It inverts the boni from Redguards and Woodelves , saying the manual was wrong. Does anyone know about this?

In other words... assuming racial boni actually work, Woodelves (according to t he UESP) would be the deadliest melee charactes, while Redguards the deadliest archers!

Thanks!

With a save editor, it shouldn't be too hard to test; just use a high level character with average strength, and change their race to Redguard and Wood Elf, comparing how many hits it takes to kill a given enemy. (Also, test Dark Elf while you're at it.) Note that I recommend not using a Ranger for this test, as the Ranger's damage bonus will overwhelm the bonus from race. I actually have a Dark Elf Knight, chosen to get a balanced bonus to ranged and melee, but she actually doesn't use physical attacks.

Speaking of racial advantages, the Breton's isn't that great. It only provides protection against damage spells that use Save vs. Magic, and the only spell of that sort in the Known Spellbook, not counting artifact spells, is Lifesteal, and I am not aware of any enemy that uses that particular spell. It will protect you from your own Area at Range spell (and in the case of Transfer Health, will only affect the damage you take and not the amount you're healed).

Speaking of which, the Transfer Health effect ignores the Save vs. property in the spellmaker; it is always Save vs. Magic, even if you change the setting (which will change the animation).
thx dr dtgreene, I just don't know how to use any editor. is anyone easy to use?

I actually only read abt this inversion zhere on the UESP... no other source mentioned it, so I am not sure it really happens, but I wd like to know indeed.

The reason I only use Redguard (if melee bonus correctly applies) or High Elf is because these are the only races with any significant advantage. Ranged attack means nothing safe, since u get surprised by spawns immediately behind u... and I noticed the Breton thing, its only relatively good vc e.g. Paralysis, etc... in which case High Elves are always better!

EDIT: Rangers bonus is also another thing that intrigued me... which one is it:

- Rangers add their level as damage bonus to their foe;
- Rangers add their level as damage bonus to their non-undead foe;
- Rangers add their level as damage bonus to their living foe (golems are neither living nor undead); or
- Rangers add their (ranger level - foe level) as damage bonus to their foe;

??? I read discussions abt all of these possibilities...

EDIT 2: Just dl 2 editors from UESP page and "these do not work on your PC", oh God...
