Upgrading to Anniversary Edition, I thought there would somewhere be a trainer for the game. It's still version 1.6.659.0.8 of which a certain site offers a trainer at cost. So other just for playing the original, the upgrade for me is useless.

It let me continue a Save of the original Special edition though!

Hardly useless. More sales means more Microsoft owned IP's coming here, potentially Fable series is my hope.

Also hi Keith, been a while. We shared some info on the H:ZD board when it was a new release here.

Safe travels,

Likewise ole buddy. As for wanting a trainer, I like getting through a fairly difficult game, THEN I go bare back and see how far I can get!
Which trainer do you mean? An NPC or an software trainer to alter the game?
Software !

However, I could use the cheat console, but somehow that's downright sinful !

I don't recall what game but for it you could create a file with several commands and save it. place it in some location among the installed files. Then in game console call up that file to activate several cheats at once !

I was talking about this game all along:
create a text file and name it cheat. in that file enter what you want, one cheat to each line, then save the file. place the file in the main installed screen along with the game.exe
each time you start the game, open the console and type in
bat cheat and close the console. WA LA

The only difference between Special Edition and Anniversary Edition is a couple of mods from the ingame store that have been added to your load order. Other than that, it's the same game.
I think you made the right choice by buying the SE edition. You see, using Vortex (I do not use any other mod manager anymore), I can install all the stuff I need. So basically you have no need for that more expensive one, unless you really want that Creation Club stuff without any hassle.

I never used a trainer or cheat for Skyrim, so I cannot comment on that one. But I imagine that trainer will be updated in the future, so you just have to be a little patient.
