Hello!

So I was trying to get Morrowind to show in 1080p. I thought if I can get to the config files, I can just type in the resolution from there. I opened the data files from the launcher, and I saw there is a bunch of stuff that is unchecked. Oblivion has this too, but not as many. Why aren't they enabled by default? Will it break my game if it is?

Thanks for replying.

They're not enabled because it was not build for those resolution, the devs decided against them.

You can change the ini files but higher resolutions and some ratios(16:9 if i remember right) will cause problems but
there's a number of mods and programms to solve this..highress, widescreen, custom setting...just take a look at nexus and the fan-sites...

Some of the well known & stable mods

I haven't touched any of the files yet, though. The resolution is still 1280x960
Have you tried MGE XE? Some people run the game in 4k through it. It also supports windowed modes, though I never tried that. The comments section on that site have a lot of discussion on setup and any technical issues with the graphics extender.

As for unchecked Data Files, you should have Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon checked. The others on the screenshot look like the free Official plug-ins released by Bethesda in the past. There is a small section here where you can read about them. If you are interested, simply check the ones you like and continue playing. There will be a pop-up on load which says data files have changed, which should go away after the next time you save with the new plug-ins enabled.
