I got both Arena and Daggerfall when I bought the fallout collection. Arena runs fine but for some reason when I play Daggerfall the mouse cursor appears in the upper left corner of the screen and refuses to move when I move my mouse. Instead there is a second mouse cursor which moves but can't be used to do anything in game.

If I remember right (and I'm not sure I do), this might be caused by skipping the title sequence by clicking the mouse instead of pressing 'Esc' or 'Space'. (I know this can cause a black screen in lieu of the main menu, but I think your problem can be another side effect.) This isn't so much a problem with Daggerfall itself as it is a weird interaction between Daggerfall and DOSBox.

Whatever the cause, though, if this occurs again, try pressing CTRL + F10 once or twice. (This is the mouse capture toggle for DOSBox, which allows you to move the mouse cursor outside the game window when you're running DOSBox in windowed mode.) This should get you back down to one (usable) mouse cursor. =)
Thanks.
Just had the same problem, Press CTRL + F10 to auto-lock the mouse, just as to unlock it.
If you install DOSBox seperately, in the installation folder, you find DOSBox 0.74 Manual.txt.
There under the FAQ section this is explained.
Haven't found a way to insert it into the dosbox_daggerfall_single.conf.
The is no way to do it with pure batch, i heard. WHS will be difficult to achieve.

[Edit:] You can find the manual on their webpage, too.

Normally, you can set autolock=true in the [sdl] section of your dosbox.conf. This makes it lock the mouse when you click on the dosbox window. However, Daggerfall is the only game I've played where this does not work. Instead, you have to press the key combo, as mentioned in the above post. Naturally, the dosbox designers placed the key combo I press most often at an awkward position that also happens to be right next to the key combo to kill dosbox immediately without confirmation, which I rarely want. I would recommend rebinding the key to something more sane (I use ctrl-tab).

Oh yeah, if you play full-screen, it will lock the mouse correctly, in my experience, even in Daggerfall.

Did anyone have a problem with the mouse trying to pick up items lying around in the dungeon in the tutorial area ? The game says just click on them, but nothing happens. I have a triangle mouse pointer, so I'm wondering if there is some kind of program bug here, or mouse setting. I can navigate with the mouse easily, just can't pick things up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The tutorial messages are probably unaltered from the original game, and -- from the sound of it -- might also assume you're using the cursor-based interface. If you're playing Daggerfall Unity - GOG Cut, you're using a version of the view-based interface, which uses an "interact" key, kind of like in more modern Bethesda games. The curator of the GOG Cut decided to set it to the same default as those games, which is E. You can rebind this in the settings (not to mention check to see what other controls are mapped to, which you should always do when getting into a game for the first time).

Thanks for the tip Darktjm !!
