Hey everyone! I've been on a bit of a kick lately with buying games and tinkering with them until they bend to my will and, when I got Quake, I was informed that I'd also be getting the free downloads of Arena and Daggerfall. Neat! I knew I could get them from the Bethesda website, but I like to have my games on Galaxy so I can manage them better.

Anyway, when I started the game, I noticed there was significant lag in the cutscenes. Like, to the point of making me not even want to play the game.

I figured it was not a problem of my computer not being able to play a game from 20 years ago so much as an issue with the DOSBox config and, sure enough, after some google and some peeking around in the config files, it turns out the cycles are set too high to make the game run smoothly.

If you're running into the same problem, Here's the fix:

1.Go to your Daggerfall folder and open dosbox_daggerfall.config in your text editor of choice
2. ctrl+F to find the line "cycles=fixed" and then change the fixed cycles number from 50000 to 15000.
3.save the file and try running Daggerfall. The opening cutscene should now run smoothly, without choppy audio.

Let me know if this works!

Worked for me - thank you so much!
