One thing I have noticed is that Bethesda can't seem to make up its mind about the school that Absorb/Transfer Health effects belong to.

In Arena, it sort of belongs to Restoration, as Healers get a discount in the Spellmaker for this effect. Unlike other effects that the Healer gets a discount on, Battlemages do not pay double; instead, they pay normal price.

In Daggerfall, the effect is both Restoration and Destruction; the game actually takes whichever skill is lower, and that skill is used for purposes of calculating the cost (and which skill gets practiced).

In Battlespire, the spell with this effect (Vampiric Drain) is Restoration.

In Morrowind, the effect is Mysticism. What? (This is very unlike any other game in the series.)

In Oblivion, the effect is Restoration, just like in Battlespire.

In Skyrim, for whatever reason, the effect is now Destruction.

Why can't Bethesda be consistent with this effect's school?

(Fortify Attribute, on the other hand, has been consistent; it's Restoration in all TES games except Battlespire.)
It's not Bethesda's fault. Akatosh keeps sneezing, and then the timeline have you heard any news from the other provinces?
Well, since Morrowind they've been drastically simplifying the game too, trying to make it appeal to the masses. Haven't they been tossing schools of magic too? I can't remember clearly at the moment.

http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Differences_Between_Morrowind,_Oblivion,_and_Skyrim goes into further detail about that. But in response to your specific query about schools of magic, they got rid of Enchant in Oblivion (only to bring it back in Skyrim), and they got rid of Mysticism and made Alchemy a stealth skill rather than a magic skill in Skyrim.
Magic plus magic is still magic. I once had two spells and burnt my sweetroll.

Is there no way to report a post here, as this thread was bumped by a spammer? I clicked "rate this post" thinking I might be able to choose some sort of negative rating, but apparently that just gives a positive rating, which is the opposite of what I want. I can't undo that either...

It looks like the spammer's post was removed before we could see it, so I guess someone found the option.

Except that it wasn't. If you look at the post numbers of each post in the topic, every integer in range is accounted for.

In topics with deleted posts, the post numbers assigned to the deleted post will be missing, as the forum software does not renumber or reuse post numbers in that situation.

(Post #5 appears to be the spam post here.)

The best thing is to report it in the Spam/Bot thread which is monitored by GOG. It can be found on the main forum; https://www.gog.com/forum/general/spambot_report_thread

Oh! Haha, you're right. Silly me overlooked that. I didn't know that about the numbers! Thanks!

Oh, and my apologies for derailing the thread.
