Data launcher, which is included with OpenMW engine is bugged, non-intuitive and not documented enough. Configuration files and parameter keys are not working as intended.

These might lead to high-severity issues with total conversion modifications and even make them unplayable.

Therefore, I've decided to develop alternative mod launcher for OpenMW.

***

Planned features:

- Provide users clear and understandable information about mod data, which they are going to load.
- Run OpenMW with only those data paths an content modules, which have been explicitly selected.
- Simple interface to choose content modules with focus on usability.
- Cross-platform compatibility.

Launcher is likely to be released as open-source software under GPL v3 license.

If you want to participate in the project, feel free to write in this topic or contact me using GOG Chat.

Needed specialists:

- C/C++ developers
- Gamebryo / OpenMW modding experts
- Software testers

Everyone, who is involved in development will be mentioned in project description, unless you want to remain anonymous.
Progress so far:

I have developed console utility, which is now working on Linux ( Windows and possible Mac OS X versions are coming later ).

It can generate and manage mod configuration files. Using dedicated configurations for each mod solves the issue with mixing resources, which is present in the official OpenMW launcher.

Now I am working on GUI, based on Qt. It will use mod description files similar to GothicStarter for Gothic 1, 2. This will allow to display detailed information about mod and its configuration in user-friendly format.
I have completed GUI ( screenshot attached ) and made necessary adjustments for cross-platform compatibility.

It works fine on Linux with DVD release of the game and the actual version of OpenMW.

Now I need some people to test project building ( CMake ) and the launcher itself on Mac OS X and Windows.

After testing I will prepare documentation and deploy a public release.
