I'm at the point of the game where I learned to forge the barkeep's signature and modified the menu. But every time I talk to the barkeep (or present him the menu), the game stops right after he asks what he can serve me, and a "Basic game engine exception" message appears.
It didn't do it during my previous stops at his bar (Before I learned the signature forging trick)

What should I do ? (taking a previous save would be a serious chore : I've clocked several game-hours since I switched to saveslot 6)

Unfortunately, going back to an older savegame is usually the best way to cope with crashes in Daedalic games. Sometimes it helps to change location, do some things that might even advance your game progress, save and get back to the point of the crash. In this case, I fear the bug is related to a certain action and you might not be able to circumvent it now. A user from another forum wrote:
I found the problem! It was that I wrote on the cocktail menu before send Peter in the bathroom. I loaded an earlier save, gave Peter the bean-thing, talked to the barkeeper first, and took the menu after that and wrote on it. And now I can continue the game!

*Groan* The reply I feared. Thanks. I'll try to load save N°5 and blaze through it as fast as I can (which means no sightseeing and no sweet vandalism along the way, but that's better than playing the same 3+ hours again.)

But I hope I don't have to go all the way back to my discution to Peter. That one was near save 3 or 4.

Thank you :)
It worked. I went right to the bar afetr learning how to forge signatures, and the conversation went without a glitch. (and the speedrun was not that long. Whew).

Thanks ^^
