Or rather, it's not as smooth as other RTS games that I'm used to, like Starcraft. Is it supposed to be like that?

No, i'm not getting that one. Running it @1920X1200 and the map scrolling is smooth.
The tiny ammount of 'zoom out' it's the problem for me. Even fully zoomed out everything is freaking huge and i can't get any sense of the surroundings. Guess i'll have to get used to the 3 window mode.
All these issues plus some interface quirks are making it a bit harder for me to really get into the game.
