Hi, I just bought the Earth 2150 Trilogy set and was looking forward to playing it, unfortunately I was not even able to get to menu screen. When I try to start it I get a setup window for resolution and renderer but non of the options seem to work for me and always returns this message:

---------------------------
Test Failed. Possible reasons are: not enough memory on your graphics card, very poor performance in this mode, or an unsupported combination of BitDepth, Z-buffer depth, and resolution. Note that some video cards are not able to fully recover from such an error. If this happens, all consecutive tests may also fail. If this problem occurs, we suggest restarting Setup before doing any more tests.
---------------------------

Since it mentions that following test might also fail I always close test and start again.

So far I tried:
-testing only for lowest resolution (640x480x16)
-turning intro off
-turning autorun off
-turning fullscreen off
-using exes from install directory instead of shortcut
-changing Setup.exe's compatibility to Xp sp3/98/95

It occurs for all 3 Earth 2150 games and for now it seems that my only option would be an virtual pc with XP. Does anyone know is there a way around it?

My specks:
Windows 7 x64 Professional
AMD FX 8350
Radeon R9 280x

Hi kamienisty

System site and drivers:

-> Completely uninstall current drivers (to clean use Display Driver Uninstaller) and install latest drivers from AMD site (only Catalyst and drivers without HDMI audio drivers and others "useless" components).

-> If install latest Catalyst didn't work out unistall them with DDU and install latest drivers provided on site of your vendor card (e.g if you have Radeon R9 280x from MSI search drivers on their site, some models don't have all electronic or have different that reference version ).

-> Upgrade chipset drivers.

-> Disable temporary any AV resident software that you use, and try run game .

In setup and application compatibility settings:

-> Check \\DISPLAY1 Direct3D HAL and set supported resolution witch 24/32 bit (for widescreen 1280x800, 1440x900, 1152x720, 1680x1050, 1920x1200).

-> Change game exe compatibility to Windows XP SP2, and leave checked in Settings only Disable Visula Themes and Disable display scaling on high DPI settings, don't forget to check Run this program as an administrator. After that changes try start up game using command "Run as Administrator" from mouse right click menu.

Yours faithfully,

I managed to install the game on my laptop with Intel processor. It looks that game have problems with new AMD CPUs :/
