All right, i have the newest drivers etc.
The problem comes in when i get to the menu , select my nation, insert my name and select new campaign, then comes a little tab reading "project EXODUS" and then Blam! it crashes with a second of black screen and the ever favorite "send" message.
I turned off the control system for data protection (or whatever it is called, i have czech language on my vista so i dont know the original name) and after that it worked. But i feel kinda worried with this protection turned off. Can I expect some update or something which would fix this problem?
Thank you all for answers,
MCZ
the name of that protection is UAC
its horrible. truly believe me when i say you are better off without it running.
unless of course you like having to click boxes all the time when you are doing basic tasks because windows vista keeps asking if its ok.
as long as you have decent firewall and antivirus software there is no need for UAC at all.
UAC is for those that dont know about antivirus and firewall software to give them some peace of mind, but its useless at actually stopping attacks.
there is free software for both available on the net.
AVG, AVAST etc for antivirus.
i believe that zonealarm is a free firewall program.
you will find quite a few programs require that UAC is turned off on vista.

no, its not UAC, its called DEP.
Dynamic (Or is it Data) Execution Prevention
Reinstall the game to a directory NOT located "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)"
These are protected folders ("Program Files" and Program Files "(x86)") in Windows. This mean that windows monitors there folders using DEC. I don't know the specifics about DEC by I know its related to the processor and accessing files though. Also use windows help to find out how to add your game to the DEC allow list. Again this is not a the games fault if DEP. This happened to me also happened to me. In vista there is no option to turn it off, so best bet is to leave it on "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only". and just make sure that you don' install games in the folders "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)".
Important, always install games into a separate "Games" Folder to avert this from happening with DEP...
For example "C:/Games/Earther 2150"
or "C:/Games/Gog.com/Earth 2150"

zolop: In vista there is no option to turn it off,

The option has always been there.
Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings - Advanced Tab - Performance Settings - Data Execution Prevention Tab - Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only or Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
It should also be of note the default setting for DEP is "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"

I have it in E:/EPIC GAMES/earth_2150
and even if i add it to the exceptions list, it doesnt work, so i have it "tunerd off".

heres a link to disabling it totally if you wish.
again its another 'feature' of windows that isnt really necessary if you have adequate protection already.

ive had dep problems in the past.
dont know if its 100% advisable to turn it off, but read that article, decide for yourself and do what you wish.

True...Its just a pain to add the programs to the list if you have many games and other software installed. There is a way to globally turn it off though...

So have you, mcz117chief, sent a dxdiag file to the GOG Customer Support? Have you contact GoG Customer Support? Those are the first few important steps AFter you cannot find a solution on these forums.

Wait what? Why would you turn DEP off? Just leave it on the default setting and everything is just dandy.
Maybe there is a patch to make it work for Vista? If there is, then it would probably be on the forum: http://s1.zetaboards.com/strikesback5/index/
Hi. I think this is problem with intro not with the game. I just turned it off and i'm playing it now ;) Also installed latest patch from topware site: http://earth2150.topware.pl/support/patch.htm.
