Is there a way to edit the unit stats (mainly just health)? I want to replay this game and I remember it always bothered me that UCS Spider (plasma one) had 300 health, despite heavy armor description (should have at least 400).

You probably have to reverse engineer the game by yourself. Otherwise, protecting Spiders with Shadow is almost as good as making them invincible.
