For some reason, my 2140 savegames aren't working anymore. They still exist in the "save" file, but when I try to load them in the game itself, every save slot is marked "empty."
If I had to guess why this happened, I'd assume it was because the game's pathing setup is very draconian, and won't work right unless every part of it is kept constant. This save-wiping thing has happened once before, when I changed the title of the program, EARTH2140.exe, to EARTH2140WW.exe. When I changed the title back, my saves started working again.
Today, however, I haven't changed anything in the 2140 folder. In spite of this, I can't get at my savegames. I just finished the UCS conquest of Mexico, Britain, and the Scandinavian Penninsula, so there's a lot of progress I have to lose here. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Apparently, the solution is to run the game in Windows 95 Compatibility mode.
