UniversalWolf: I'd rather keep the Genesis graphics and use the development resources to expand and improve the Genesis gameplay. That would be a game I'd buy.
Just some heads up :)
Me and several other people are working on a translation project of the biggest mod for Eador Genesis called New Horizons. Right now it has 2 new races that you can meet: Gnolls and Drow, each of the race has its own events and alliance options. All vanilla race have expanded and separated. Elves now have Elf-swordsman, Elf-horseman, Elf-druid. Goblins have their own archers and sorcerers. Orcs don't have Goblins at all and etc. Aside from new units, there are also a lot of new items and spells added. Units now can have a chance to be promoted(on level up) to another more powerful one. Militiaman -> Slinger(and into several other classes), Slinger > Veteran Slinger. Pikeman > Defender, Guard > Sentinel and etc.
As for the mod's overall feeling.
I loved Eador Genesis and after MotBW frustration I returned to Genesis and decided to start transtating New Horizons. I've never saw a Genesis player who said that Genesis was good but New Horizon was not or has too much unnecessary content. Personally I can say that I don't see any point of playing vanilla Genesis right now, because the NH mod is more challenging and interesting.
Near the finish of the project I'll try to do some kind of a teaser :) You can see the translation progress here

On topic :)
I did only a little research and saw some beta letsplays, this was enough to see how "nice" building GUI was, how you can not differ one terrain type from the other and how horrible radiant menu is. That was enough for me to understand that I need to wait for year to have a decent game :)
