Having helped the God of War I get a permanent alliance with Orcs. Is there any way to change this further in the campaign or will I be locked into this for every shard going forward?

These only last for one shard. There might be an alignment pre-requisite that will make it hard for you to ally with Elves in the near future, but you will not have an orcish alliance on your next shard unless you complete the quest all over again.
Permanent alliance is permanent for the rest of campaign. You wouldn't be able to change this.
You can try to restore game from backup if you don't like outcome:
rename gameX.bkc (save on shard) or gameX.bka(astral) into gameX.cmp.

I must have misunderstood the question or read it too quickly. I suppose he meant "God of War" rather literally rather than just as a metaphor. My mistake.
Is there any way you can ruin(or hinder) campaign so badly you gonna need to restart new campaign?

He meant it quite literally. However, it's somewhat of a spoiler on the campaign (as he states), and - I think - the only permanent alliance in the game. Too bad it's with the orcs, which I find rather bad.

Orcs are by far the easiest alliance to obtain, too.
It is quite an advantage to get all three of the orc buildings up and running quickly though and the orc are decent cheap fodder, however Centaurs are probably the best alliance to aim for given how good those units are. Sadly I'm stuck with Orcs now from the sounds of things, but it isn't a disaster ;)

Well the Orcs themselves are decent units, but their other two buildings were pretty weak IIRC? But no hardly a disaster :) As for what alliance is best - it's hard to say. Centaurs are good, but killing Ogres can be a pain sometimes. Elves are amazing, but finding those kidnapped maidens can be an even bigger PITA :)

I've actually started to prefer Lizardmen. They - like Orcs - are pretty decent units (actually better I think), and you can usually find them very early on. And there tend to be a goodly amount of their provinces around to take over for free as well.

But it really varies. Also I guess the permanent Orc alliance has the main benefit of getting to take any Orc province for free right out of the gate. That can be a pretty big bonus, right there. Good stuff to do in turns where your units are healing.

Take a look here: http://www.gog.com/forum/eador_series/moddingindexes

Banner of the horde will generate event 589 with dialog 895 in 3 turns after construction #Orcs from the allied tribes have raided their neighbors.

It have indexes:
Index: 1
Power: 30
Param1: 400
Param2: 0

Index: 17
Power: 589
Param1: 8
Param2: 10

Index: 18
Power: 589
Param1: 2
Param2: 0

1 Get Power+Random(Param1) gold. So, randomly 30-430 gold
17 - will repeat in 8 +random 0-10 ->8-18 turns
18 only in demesne.

Sadly, you can't join high level orc provinces, because they look at army strength.
