When I hit end turn on a particular shard of a particular turn (I've tried reloading the game and set my heroes to not do anything, tried moving them), my game goes into the endturn loading bit and displays an icon with a shielded soldier on a particular demesne, but the game refuses to load anything after that. I can still click around but I can't cause any effects.

Can you please send the contents of your "save" directoty to the adrageron@eador.com ? I'll try to figure out what is wrong and will try to fix it.
Same here.

Game freezes in campaign mode at the third or fourth shard after several turns.
So i left the shard and invaded another one, but the crash came back after several turns.
I restarted the campaign and the same happened again.

Both times this happened at a point where i invaded a province to get schematics for lvl 2 units and found some during the conquest.

Will send my "save" folder to the adress mentioned above.
My game also crashed when my hero tried to plunder a goblin province one too many times. I suspect these lock-ups are similar, in the sense that the game cannot ascertain what to do next when the turn's ended. Too bad I don't have the save file, but thanks for your effort nonetheless, Adrageron.
Unzip this file into the game "var" folder (overwriting an old one). This will fix a bug.

Sorry for inconvenience.

Should we all do that, or only people who have encountered this bug?

You can do that just to be sure this bug would not disturb you. But I'm not sure you need to. I, for instance, was unable to reproduce bug on my computer.
That was a quick response on a sunday. Thx a lot!
Maybe everyone should do it and gog should replace the file in their installer, just encountered it,too. Happens when the enemy causes unrest in your demesne.

Anyway, thanks for the quick fix, excellent support!

Encountered the bug, tried your dialog.var file, does not fix it. Still crashes when plundering a rebellious province to extinction. I have found out the dialog about salting or cursing the land in your file, but it does not seem to fire up. Instead, the game just crashes.

Thank you for report. Yes, this is another bug, and now it is fixed too. Download this file again, and overwrite an old one.

Thank you most kindly for your lightning-quick support. I can confirm that the latest dialog.var file has corrected the problem.
I am having this issue also but cannot find the file to fix it.
