Saw the screenshots it looks like the aforementioned topic except more detailed, so what is it?
It's more like Master of Magic / HOMM III. With a splash of Dominions 3. I didn't get a Wesnoth feel at all, save for it being 2D and being turn based.

You have hero units, overland map development, city management, army building and cool exploration scenarios that your heroes can encounter. You can build shops and forges that can make things to sell to your heroes, or focus on researching spells, or focus on building army units. Or a balance of all of that plus more.

Battles are fought in a fairly typical turn-based style.

To simplify: you do your civilization building on the main map, and combat encounters take place on battle maps.

Wesnoth is awesome, but it's pretty focused on combat, not "big picture" stuff. They are pretty different despite looking much the same.

Hope that helped a bit, I'm running on 0 sleep. Apologies for spelling and missing words.

I agree with the above. I did enjoy Wesnoth but as digitalus rightly states this is a different experience.
Wesnoth has another perspective.
You perceive the game differently.

The kingdom management is an appendix that force you to think in a whole new strategical way.
It's more Like

Total War: Wesnoth

On the campaign map you have Turn Based Strategy where you can improve your kingdom, gain quests and explore the map.
On the battle map you have Wesnoth like hex-movement and visceral combat.

Oh yes, and the bloody luck factor of Wesnoth that seriously sucked isn't obnoxiously bothering you each time you attack.
