Salve friends!

Just one thing is stopping me from buying this fascinating game. If I purchase Eador: Masters of the Broken World here on GOG, can I activate it on Steam? What about Eador: Genesis? The deal is exactly the same on both Steam and GOG. I asked this in the Eador community hub, and I sent a message to GOG support. I did not receive any answer yet, I suspect I never will.

Somebody? Is it compatible with Steam?

I can't say for sure, but I doubt that the game would activate on steam. I've never received steam keys for any games here and I don't ever expect to.

Chris
Generally speaking, no. Steam is DRM, and GOG is big on no DRM. If you do get a Steam key it would come directly from the developer.
Why would you want a Steam key? Games here are DRM free, and you can download them on any computer like with Steam, only with even less potential hassle.

It is not the DRM I am interested in, but the bonuses that come with it. I like having all my games in one place and updated as soon as there is an update. There is a couple more reasons.

I do not see why they would not provide the key, it would not hurt, I think. On the other hand I do not see why they would provide it.

Thanks for the answers =(.

You seem to be corupted by steam if you dislike drm-free gog version of the game.

That's why I buy at GOG', DotEmu, IndieBundle, indie websites: I put all these drm-free games and patches in one place: on my good external drive. I can play everywhere: Internet is no longer needed to install and play them.

Then why not just buy it on Steam if you want the Steam version?

Because it is slightly cheaper, and because it is DRM free.

I did not say that I dislike DRM free games, if I did why would I waste resources typing this?

Anyhow, I just received a word from GOG support. As expected, they say it is not possible. Thanks for answers, adieu!

I remember there being a way to link non-Steam games to the client, so you can add them to your library and launch them like all your Steam games. Not quite the same thing as what you want, but it might be worth investigating.

No. There is a conflict between Steam and an Eador: Genesis dll that results in glitching audio.

Which makes me wonder how Gensis is being bundled on Steam. I'm guessing it must be drm free so you can run it with Steam's client nonresident.

All games sold on GOG are Steamcrapware (and other malware, aka DRM) free, the very reason I and many others buy them from here. And you can keep all your games in one place, just buy everything from GOG ;-) :-p. And no, GOG does not provide Steam keys as that would defeat the whole purpose of this site.
