Simple query - the game itself looks appealing, and I can handle a bit of weird language, but if the translation kills any charm/humor/wit/quality the original had, it dampens the experience quite a bit for me.

Any opinions? I'd particularly be interested to hear from anyone who is bilingual and knows how good it was originally and if it's better/worse in english :)
I don't know the russian version, but the english one is really good, I can't think of anything clumsy. The sarcasm of the assistant on the astral plane is especially well done.
Can't speak to the original, but the English version is very well translated with wit and humor making it through fine (assuming it was there in the original of course).
If I hadn't known it was a Russian game, I don't think I would've noticed that it wasn't originally written in English.
The recent update took care of some of the grammar bloopers that did exist, but as the others have said, there weren't very many and they certainly weren't immersion-breaking.
As noted above the English version is solid with nothing glaring to distinguish its status as a translation. I've encountered no issues since the patch.
The english translation is generally very good as others said.

Only problems I have seen thus far are:
1. A few rare conversations get cut off because the translation is bigger then the window which contains them (rather then scrolling it is supposed to be continued on the next window and that is marked manually not automatically).
EDIT: This issue was fixed in latest patch
2. The manual has not been translated to english so you need to use google translate on it

Finally decided to give this a proper go. I've only played slightly past the tutorial, but I'm quite impressed by the translation. Whoever was responsible for it did a superb job. It's not something one would expect for a game as niche as this. I've seen titles from bigger developers with translation oddities, yet I haven't encountered any here thus far.

My thoughts exactly. It's not possible at all to tell where this game comes from by looking at the text alone.
Whoever was responsible should go commandeer the Space Rangers 2 remake's translation >:|

Thanks for the link. (Bumped back to the top) I thought the translation was good enough to get useful information out the manual. The translation goofs were kind of amusing. :)
