As written in the topic's subject, I get the loading screen but when it's almost full the game crashes. According to event manager the module that causes it is alleg43.dll. Strangely the game worked in the past and I think it even was the current version.

Edit: Strangely when I installed the game through galaxy it works just fine. But to me this is only a partial solution, the game has no achievements or cloud saves so there's really no point to using galaxy for it. It only adds additional step to launch the game. So any idea how to fix the offline version?

Had same problem (using wine to run it on linux) added a folder named "save" in the games main dir, and the crash on startup went away.
Zundara, thank you. Your fix solved the problem. The thread can be closed.
Thank you for this

I downloaded Eador Genesis yesterday from my library and after installation, i ran into the alleg43.dll crash when i launched the game.

After checking the directory it is indeed missing a "save" folder, and as instructed by Zundara adding one manually in the game directory fixes the problem entirely.

FWIW, there's an unofficial native Linux port for Genesis:
