I did not see compatibility mode in the launcher.

This is true. I can only access it after starting the game, *then* going to settings ----> Video, and checking the "compatibility mode" there.

Must be nice being able to get that far...

Damn, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. So, you are unable to launch the game at all then? I could suggest going to Snowbirds Imperium forum here, and either start a new thread, and tell them your problem, or leave a post in the technical issues thread, and hopefully they will respond, or be able to help. I say hopefully, because, unfortunately, as before, they are hit and miss when it comes to responding to people there. For instance, I left them an inquiry asking as to when we might see the latest game update of Feb. 16th, posted here on GOG, and have been met with silence. After perusing the Imperium forum there, I haven't come across anyone not being able to start the game at all, so if you are so inclined, I would definitely let them know. What are your system specs, if I may ask? And are you getting no response at all, or an Access Violation when trying to start the game?

I do have a second device that runs it ok. But my primary computer gets an access violation error after loading about 80% or so. I thought the patch note was talking about the pre-launcher, but I guess not.

My second device is a Surface Book, which I usually don't plug into a wall with a mouse, and for some reason, some games don't like the stylus, and this is one such game. So if I really want it badly enough, I can use my Surface with a mouse, but the best place to do so is usually hooked up to the device that crashes.
I wonder if the in-game configuration setting can be manually added to some file somewhere. It probably wouldn't be hard, but annoying that it had to come to that to begin with...

Ahh, okay. I agree, that it certainly makes more sense to able to enable the compatibility setting with the launcher. From the forums over at Snowbird, there are still apparently lots of people having problems just trying to load MotBW from the get-go, as you were with Imperium and your Surface. I don't know if they'll ever get MotBW totally straightened out to work properly on most folks machines.

As far as Imperium, I've taken a little break from playing it atm. Still waiting for the most recent update to finally land here on GOG, and then I'll probably get into it again. So far, I am sort of "meh" on it. While it seems more stable then MotBW, it still has some annoying bugs for me, like the persistent dead units, that won't leave the battlefield, or take a turn before they do. Anyway, glad to hear you were at least able to play it on your other system.

I am sure many, if not most of you here have heard about the "cleaning house" over at Snowbird, leaving many questions about what is going to happen to their current games now. I noticed on their forums quite a while ago, they had announced an update for Imperium (back in February actually), but we didn't seem to be getting it here. I asked on the forum, when we would be getting it, but got no reply. At any rate, just for shits and giggles, I noticed that the current full game installer here on my games library page was listed as 2.53.1.9098, and the update patch on Snowbird's forum is listed as 2.53.1. I decided to just download the whole installer, and installed it over my existing game ( Ver. 2.52.3), and indeed, I can confirm it is the newest patched version, as announced over at Snowbird. So, even though we didn't receive any notification here at GOG, we do indeed have the most up to date version available. So without further ado, here is the changelog as per Snowbird, via the full game installer here at GOG....
