gscotti: However...... I want to add that choosing a hybrid career for your hero should not
necessarily impede you from achieving/setting a level 4 or 5 for a given attribute. Mathematically speaking, there is no obstacle.
well multi classing must have a drawback otherwise they would be insanely strong - just imagine a pure archer with ranged tactics on level 5 as added bonus - give him a army of ranged units and nothing gets even close to them
and for loynis question
the general increases the attack and counterattack of the units under his command and on level 20 that bonus is increased further (like the berserker becomes a chieftain on level 20 and gets a more powerful berserk ability 8 instead of 3 i think)
the mage gets increased spellpower and on level 20 he is able to cast two times per round (seriously broken because way too strong) ohh and the arches double shot costs less stamina after level 20
also all the multiclasses get certain bonuses as well - just some of the examples i remember - a warrior that multiclasses into a wizard gets soulsucking and thus restores Hp on kills (useless i think because a high level warrior has near endless hp and insane armor - he almost gets never killes unless he faces hardhitting enemies and those mostly come alone so he has no one to kill for hp restoration)
a warrior that multiclasses to commander becomes a holy knight and on level 20 gains a free resurrection practically doubling his hp because each battle he can die once and gets insta resurrected
a wizard multiclassing commander becomes an enchanter and the duration of his buffs and curses is increased (on top of his concentration skill if he has it) on level 20 this is increased even further - one of the few useful multiclasses i think - if you want to know why - have a look in the tavern ;)
